Physical Therapy Continuing Education eProfessor Profile

Stefanie Palma PT, DPT, M.Ed., NCS, CBIS

Dr. Stefanie Palma has practiced physical therapy for more than 30 years. A board-certified specialist in both neurology and brain injuries, her areas of interest include neurological rehabilitation, MFR, professionalism and ethics. Dr. Palma is the Director of Academic Services for the College of Health Sciences and Professions, as well as a professor in the Department of Physical Therapy, at the University of North Georgia. She has been an active member of the Physical Therapy Association of Georgia for many years and has been recognized by them as an exceptional physical therapist, leader and educator.

Examples of Dr. Palma’s accomplishments include:

  • President of the Georgia State Board of Physical Therapy since 2014; member since 2011.
  • Commissioner for the Commission on Accreditation in Physical Therapy Education (CAPTE); she also served on the Criteria Review Group for CAPTE, the group responsible for developing the 2006 accreditation criteria for all physical therapy education programs in the U.S.
  • Appointed to and served on the Examination Development Committee, Federation of State Boards of Physical Therapy, 2010-2013.
  • Founding Program Director for the PTA program at Gwinnett Technical College.
  • Past President of the Physical Therapy Association of Georgia, as well as a past member of its Executive Board.
