Goals & Objectives:

At the completion of this lecture, the learner will be able to:

  1. Identify upper extremity anatomy, including the bones, soft tissue and muscles of the elbow, forearm, wrist and hand; the intrinsic muscles of the hand, vascular supply; and fibro-osseous and synovial tissue structures.
  2. Utilize at least seven assessment tools for the hand.
  3. Implement eight treatment strategies for the hand:
    1. Physical agents
    2. Therapeutic exercise
    3. Wound management
    4. Edema management
    5. Scar management
    6. Splinting
    7. Manual therapy
    8. Taping techniques
