Goals & Objectives:

At the conclusion of this course, the attendee should be able to:

  1. Discuss the origins of ethics.
  2. Define ethics in the context of healthcare.
  3. Differentiate ethics from morals.
  4. Describe various theories of ethics and morals and their implications/applications.
  5. Discuss the implications of generational issues on ethics and ethical development.
  6. Investigate the RIPS Model of Ethical Decision Making.
  7. Apply the RIPS model to various scenarios.
  8. Describe the recently released APTA Code of Ethics that go into effect July 1, 2010.
  9. Discuss the importance of Code of Ethics and apply the Code to ethical scenarios.
  10. Evaluate/assess whether the scenarios will escalate into legal situations.
