Nicole Dawson PT, Ph.D., GCS

Dr. Dawson has more than 13 years of clinical experience, with board certification in geriatric physical therapy and a doctoral degree in adult development and aging psychology. She is currently an assistant professor in the Doctor of Physical Therapy program at the University of Central Florida in Orlando. Her current area of research includes developing non-pharmacological interventions to improve functional and psychosocial outcomes in patients with dementia, and identifying predictors of falls in older adults with cognitive impairment, as well as gaining a better understanding of the illness experience of individuals with dementia.

Examples of Dr. Dawson's accomplishments include:

  • Publication of several articles in peer-reviewed journals, including The Gerontologist, and presentations at numerous local and national conferences on geriatrics and aging.
  • A graduate research fellowship from the Margaret Blenkner Research Institute of the Benjamin Rose Institute on Aging.
  • Current reviewer for The Gerontologist and past reviewer for the Journal of Geriatric Physical Therapy.
