Lisa VanHoose PT, Ph.D., M.P.H., CLT, CES

Dr. VanHoose has practiced oncologic physical therapy since 1996. She serves as an Associate Professor and Program Director at the University of Louisiana Monroe. Dr. VanHoose's research focuses on the incidence, prevalence, and severity of cancer-related side effects, with an emphasis on the disease burden of minority cancer survivors. She also investigates strategies to diversify the healthcare workforce to reduce health disparities. Dr. VanHoose has received both NIH and industry funding to support her research agenda.

Examples of Dr. VanHoose's accomplishments include:

  • Served as the President of the Oncology Section of the American Physical Therapy Association, 2012-2016.
  • Has completed lymphedema treatment certification programs through both the Norton School of Lymphatic Therapy and Lymphology Association of North America.
  • Previously a Principal Investigator at the Cancer Rehabilitation and Wellness Laboratory, University of Central Arkansas.
  • Advanced Credentialed Clinical Instructor for the American Physical Therapy Association.
  • Has taught physical therapy as a faculty member or guest lecturer at University of Central Arkansas in Conway, Arkansas; Northern Arizona University in Phoenix, Arizona; Hampton University in Hampton, Virginia; and the University of Kansas Medical Center in Lawrence, Kansas.
  • Journal reviewer for such publications as American Journal of Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation, Journal of Allied Health, Lasers in Surgery and Medicine, and Physiotherapy Theory and Practice Journal.
